NDP REALITY CHECK: Trudeau wants to take your pension for a test drive

As the Liberal retreat comes to a close, they’ve managed to come up with just one new policy proposal: making pension plans pay for infrastructure.

Just months ago, Justin Trudeau was touting public-private partnerships as the way to pay for repairs to crumbling infrastructure.

But today, rather than talking about a real national infrastructure investment plan, Liberal MP Scott Brison explained that Liberals would dip into Canadian pension funds.

No mention of:

  • whether Canadians would have to pay more through tolls and user fees to make up for all these Liberal plans, or
  • the costs to future generations when the Liberals simply kick infrastructure debt further down the road.

If this is the best they can come up with, it could explain why Justin Trudeau prefers not to talk about his ideas.

Justin Trudeau has no plan. He is not ready.
