NDP Marks the 75th Anniversary of the Dieppe Raid

Irene Mathyssen, NDP Veterans Affairs Critic, made the following statement:

“On this day in 1942 our brave soldiers ventured onto the shores of France where over 900 Canadians lost their lives. The raid resulted in heavy losses but also showed the great courage of many soldiers.

Today we remember the many who sacrificed their lives that day and those who came home forever scarred by the events.

We remember the families who lost loved ones, or welcomed home someone forever changed by the war. We remember those who were taken prisoner and endured years of harsh treatment before being liberated.”
