NDP cross-country day of action on affordability

While the Conservatives continue to ignore Canadians who are struggling to make ends meet, New Democrats will be fanning out across the country on Saturday to talk with Canadians about the NDP plan to make life more affordable.

“In communities right across the country, people will be talking with their
neighbours about real solutions to help Canadians,” said NDP Leader Tom
Mulcair. “It just doesn’t make any sense that while family budgets are
stretched to the breaking point, the Conservatives continue to sit on their
hands.”

Over 15,000 Canadians have already joined the NDP campaign to make life more
affordable. The Conservatives have rejected NDP proposals to ease the burden on
families and also voted against an NDP motion to cap ATM fees.

“The Conservatives talk a good game but have failed to address skyrocketing gas
prices, exorbitant interest rates or unfair ATM fees,” said NDP Consumer
Affairs critic Glenn Thibeault (Sudbury). “Making life more affordable for
Canadian families is a priority for New Democrats and we’re taking action to
make it happen.”
