NDP completes its shadow cabinet shuffle

OTTAWA – NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh has completed his shadow cabinet shuffle which began last week during the caucus retreat. With these changes, the NDP aims to maximize its parliamentary team’s efforts to fight economic and social inequality.

“I am very happy and proud to be able to count on such an experienced and dynamic team in Parliament,” said Mr. Singh. “Canadians can count on them to propose real solutions to inequality that will make Canada more fair and just.”

As previously announced, Ruth Ellen Brosseau will take on the role of House Leader. Her predecessor, Peter Julian, will become Finance critic, while Alexandre Boulerice, in addition to his role as Quebec lieutenant, will be the new critic for the Environment and Climate Change.

Nathan Cullen will take on the new role of British Columbia liaison, ensuring a strong relationship with the provincial NDP government in place.

Charlie Angus will help lead the fight against inequality as the new Ethics critic.

The NDP has also decided to adopt a new approach in its relationship with Indigenous peoples. The NDP Leader has created a Reconciliation portfolio involving various critics, which recognizes the fact that Reconciliation with Indigenous peoples must be a coordinated and systemic effort.
