Official Opposition Leader Tom Mulcair has written to Prime Minister Stephen Harper asking him not to appeal the Public Service Labour Relations Board’s ruling against the government for bargaining in bad faith with Canada’s diplomats.
The NDP is urging the Prime Minister to instead direct the President of the Treasury Board to immediately return to the negotiating table and resolve this ongoing dispute between the government and its diplomats.
“Canada’s international presence depends on the work and dedication of our excellent foreign service officers,” writes Mr. Mulcair. “Foreign service disruptions create problems for small businesses, universities, the tourism industry and families. In the interest of all Canadians, it is important that this conflict be resolved as quickly as possible.”
