Liberal platform confirms ‘real change’ is actually ‘real cuts’

$2-billion in health cuts are guaranteed, in addition to $6.5-billion in general cuts.

Justin Trudeau unveiled his platform today, confirming that a Liberal government would slash nearly $2-billion from our medicare system, along with at least $6.5-billion in cuts from unnamed federal services.

“Our health system needs a boost to adapt to challenges, not a cut,” said NDP Candidate and former provincial Health Minister, Erin Selby (Saint Boniface – Saint Vital). “Trudeau is promising to underfund the system by nearly $2-billion, and could add up to $6.5-billion in further cuts on top of that.”

Liberals have shown time and again that they cannot be trusted with their left-leaning sound and fury campaign platforms that turn into heartbreak for progressive voters who took the bait and woke up to yet another disappointing right-leaning Liberal government.

“Jean Chretien, Paul Martin and Kathleen Wynne all ‘flashed left’ during election campaigns before taking ‘hard right turns’ once elected,” said Selby. “Canadians simply won’t be fooled again.”

NDP Leader Tom Mulcair has announced a $5.4-billion investment in the future of health care, with no cuts.
