Justin Trudeau inappropriately reimbursed for expenses, misleads Canadians about speaking fees

“I absolutely never used any house or parliamentary resources in any speaking engagements, in any of my professional work” – Justin Trudeau, QMI, June 13, 2013 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zp9TwERU9mo)

Just the sort of categorical denial you’ve heard from politicians many times before. Now here’s the new, revised answer from Mr. Trudeau:

On December 5th, the Clerk of the House of Commons, Ms. Audrey O’Brien, contacted the Liberal Whip’s office regarding a review – in response to the unanimous consent motion in the House of Commons – dealing with the disclosure of paid speaking engagements by Members of Parliament… due to human error, the invoice was batched with a number of other invoices relating to my Parliamentary duties, which involved the same transportation company used for my regular travel between Ottawa and Montreal, totaling $2085.71.” – Justin Trudeau, January 16, 2014

Just like when Stephen Harper claimed: “They were not communicated to me or to members of my office. They were Mr. Wright's decisions, but he takes full responsibility for them.”

Or when Mr. Harper declared: “In terms of Senator Wallin, I have looked at the numbers. Her travel costs are comparable to any parliamentarian travelling from that particular area of the country over that period of time.

Canadians deserve better than Conservative and Liberal corruption and lies. Tom Mulcair has the experience and leadership to hold Stephen Harper accountable – and you can trust Tom Mulcair’s NDP to fix what’s broken in Ottawa.
