Joe Oliver’s billion dollar fib
Speaking yesterday from India, Natural Resources Minister Joe Oliver said:
“It isn’t the intention of this government to subsidize the oil and gas industry.” – Globe and Mail, Oct 11, 2012
So we suppose that means the $1.3 billion in direct subsidies his Conservative government dishes out every year to help the fossil fuels industry is more of a gift than a subsidy?
And the added millions in corporate tax giveaways to profitable oil and gas companies – an amount that is increasing annually – is simply a generous tip from the Conservatives to show their appreciation for the hard work of oil and gas lobbyists.
