Jagmeet Singh Tours Quebec to Promote Renewable Energy

OTTAWA – This Sunday, Jagmeet Singh, Leader of Canada’s NDP, will begin a week-long tour in Quebec. Between August 12th and 19th, Mr. Singh will hear directly from Quebecers and highlight the innovations taking place in Quebec within the renewable energy sector.

“Quebec is an environmental protection leader and the steady development of its renewable energy sector proves it”, said Mr. Singh. “Instead of spending $4.5 billion in public money to buy the old Kinder Morgan pipeline or giving massive tax breaks for digital giants, we should be investing in a transition to clean energy, especially since we know that every dollar invested in the renewable energy field creates 6 to 8 times more jobs than in the fossil fuel industry.”

The NDP Leader will in turn visit the ridings of MPs Ruth Ellen Brosseau (Berthier – Maskinongé), Brigitte Sansoucy (St-Hyacinthe – Bagot), François Choquette (Drummond), Matthew Dubé (Beloeil – Chambly) and Anne Minh-Thu Quach (Salaberry – Suroît), before ending his tour with a stop in Montreal. In each of these ridings, he will visit leading businesses in the clean energy sector.

“The environment and the fight against climate change are priorities for Quebecers”, added Mr. Singh. “I am looking forward to meeting with them and hearing how we can work together. New Democrats are stepping up for Quebec and pushing to create good jobs and growth in the renewable energy sector.”
