House of Commons welcomes Syrian refugees

Today all parties in the House of Commons unanimously adopted an NDP motion to welcome Syrian refugees to Canada.

NDP immigration, refugees and citizenship critic Jenny Kwan (Vancouver-East) was pleased to lead this initiative with the following motion:

_“__That this House, on behalf of all Canadians, warmly welcome our new Syrian and Iraqi neighbours, and indeed all refugees who have escaped conflict around the world and arrived safely in Canada, a country with an unwavering commitment to pluralism, human rights and the rule of law.”_

“Resettling Syrian refugees is a national project that we should all be proud of,” said Kwan. “As Syrian refugees arrive, they can be assured that all Members of Parliament welcome them with open arms.”
