The Government must ensure Canadians safety

In light of new information regarding serious vehicle defects that have led to several traffic accidents, NDP Deputy Transport critic Hoang Mai (Brossard – La Prairie) has sent a letter to the Minister of Transportation, Lisa Raitt, to determine when exactly she was informed of this and what measures she has taken to ensure the safety of Canadians.

“Canadians place their trust in their government to ensure that they are protected by strong safety regulations. They deserve to know what measures their government has taken to protect them,” said Mai.

At least 12 road-accident deaths have been tied to a deficiency in General Motors vehicles that were part of a massive recall. Yesterday, the manufacturer announced a further recall of 1.5 million vehicles produced since 2008.
