Flaherty’s Budget Bill Surprises

Jim Flaherty claimed today that there were “no surprises” in his Omnibus Bill. Let’s have a look at few things that jump out:

• There is no mention of the Navigable Waters Act changes in the Budget document from March
• The Hazardous Materials Information Review Commission is eliminated
• Changes to judicial salaries in the Judges Act
• Changes to the Bretton Woods Act
• Amending the Indian Act

And that’s just a beginning. In the coming days and weeks the NDP will be holding the Conservatives to account.
