The Conservatives’ möbius strip logic

Thursday, CBC revealed that when Nigel Wright was Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister, he had control of a top secret Conservative Party fund.

Later that evening, Conservative MP Chris Alexander confirmed the existence of the fund during a broadcast panel:

“The Fund does exist” – Chris Alexander, CBC, 06/06/2013

But today, the CPC’s favorite talking points reader, Pierre Poilièvre, contradicted his caucus colleague.

“This specific fund does not exist” – Pierre Poilièvre, House of Commons, 07/06/2013

Already embattled for their blatant schemes to cover up their senators scandalous use of taxpayers’ money, Conservatives now find themselves with a secret fund that, according to them, both exists and doesn’t at the same time.

Instead of attacking respected journalists and struggling to keep a consistent story, Conservatives should embrace transparency. Canadians deserve to see all documents related to this secret fund and the Nigel Wright payment to Mike Duffy.

Canadians deserve better.
