Congratulations, now here’s your pink slip

Longueuil, we have a problem.

Minister Paradis was in Ottawa today celebrating the success of high level Canadian Space Agency (CSA) researchers who have been working on the second generation Hubble telescope.

How sadly ironic that at the same moment the Minister was extolling the virtues of the work of the CSA, his government was firing ultra-specialized space researchers working in Longueuil, Quebec as part of the Conservatives’ recent attacks on scientists and researchers.

In fact, of the 23 people who received letters about job cuts at the CSA, 22 of them are scientists. For many of these highly skilled workers, they will be forced to leave Canada and find employment at places like NASA.

Maybe one day these scientists will invent a device that points out hypocrisy, though it may experience overload when it comes to Conservatives like Minister Paradis.
