Blanchette-Lamothe elected chair of status of women committee

OTTAWA –Today, Lysane Blanchette-Lamothe (Pierrefonds—Dollard) was elected new Chair of the Commons Standing Committee on the Status of Women.

“It is an honour to be chosen by my colleagues from all parties to chair such an important Standing committee,” said Blanchette-Lamothe. “The Status of Women committee provides a strong oversight mandate that ensures that the rights and interests of women across Canada are protected. I will strive to maintain this committee’s high standards, something which all Canadians expect from Parliament.”

Blanchette-Lamothe will also remain a member of the Public Accounts Committee and keep her role as the Official Opposition’s critic for Seniors.
