Biography

  • Pelham Municipal Councillor since 2003, served as Deputy Mayor
  • Chairs the Municipal Corporate Services Committee
  • Member of the Pelham Library Board
  • An electrician by trade, has served on the Executive Board of CAW local 199 since 2000
  • As Financial Secretary of the region’s largest union local, oversees a yearly budget of over $4 million
  • Delegate to the St. Catharines and District Labour Council
  • Helped spearhead the creation of the Bethlehem Project, a non-profit affordable housing complex in St. Catharines
  • Member of the Niagara Health Coalition
  • Former President of the Niagara District Basketball Referees Association
  • Recipient of a Niagara Regional Police Chief Commendation
  • Travelled to Africa to oversee the clearing of landmine sites and the construction of women’s co-ops
  • Actively participated in the Golden Horseshoe Social Action Committee
  • Holds an undergraduate degree in history and political science from Brock University
  • Has lived in the Niagara region since 1963
  • Married to Peggy Allen — they have three children.
