Outreach Officer - Permanent Full-time Position

Responsibilities

  • Assist Members of Parliament and the Leader’s Office organizing outreach opportunities across Canada
  • Coordinate with other staff to develop strategic outreach plans to communicate the work of the NDP in the House of Commons to Canadians
  • Assist Members of Parliament to best represent their constituents
  • Work with Members of Parliament and the Leader’s Office to organize tours and events
  • Work with community groups, (including labour, business associations and other stakeholders) to identify opportunities and assist with executing outreach and tour strategies
  • Create and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, organizations and activists
  • Work with MP offices and other key Leader’s Office staff to maintain coordinated communications plans in order to maximize media for the Caucus in the region
  • Follow up on events to evaluate and to ensure impact is maximized
  • Collaborate as a member of the Leader’s Officeto advance the NDP caucus goals and agenda
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Experience in outreach, media and communications, event planning and issue based campaigns
  • Experience working with broad networks, especially labour and social movements
  • Strong communications skills (verbal and written) and good political judgment
  • The ability to motivate and work well with volunteers
  • Proven ability to work with little supervision
  • Knowledge of contemporary Canadian politics and parliamentary system
  • Familiarity with the New Democratic Party, its policies and structure
  • Knowledge of Quebec politics, culture and media
  • Proven ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal, computer and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well in an open and creative team environment
  • Willingness to work irregular hours and to travel if required
  • French required, bilingual, an asset

Salary

$58,657 (salary levels subject to clauses 12 and 21 of the collective agreement)
