Responsibilities

  • General logistics support for the Media team within the Strategic Communications department
  • Coordinate requests and distribution of talking points for the media team
  • Coordinate TV appearances in both French and English for Members and critics
  • Carry out research and fulfill requests for basic information as required
  • Carry out final edits and verifications of media documents before they are sent to press
  • Send out media advisories, statements and news releases for the media team
  • Help update and maintain our database of talking points on a variety of current issues, important files and media contacts.
  • Maintain a well-organized filing system for talking points and other materials for easy reference
  • Work collaboratively with the media team, Members of Parliament and other staff to advance the NDP caucus’ parliamentary goals and agenda
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Proven ability to work in an organized and effective way under tight deadlines
  • Knowledge of contemporary Canadian politics and the parliamentary system
  • Familiarity with the New Democratic Party, its policies and structure
  • Demonstrated discretion and sound political judgment
  • Excellent interpersonal communications, computer and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well in a creative team environment
  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Bilingualism is required

Annual salary

$62,000

(salary levels subject to clauses 12 and 21 of the collective agreement)
