Responsibilities

  • Write, collect information and prepare householders, mailings, op-ed letters, media materials, press releases and correspondence in collaboration with the parliamentary office
  • Plan and execute communications strategies aimed at informing people of the MPs policy proposals
  • Conduct media monitoring and analysis
  • Plan and manage the graphic layout of printed and electronic products
  • Manage the Member’s visibility on various digital platforms (website, social media)
  • Process the Member’s bills and general administrative duties
  • Recruit and supervise interns
  • Represent the Member at events and meetings
  • Sort and respond to the Member’s paper or email correspondence
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in communications and media relations
  • Excellent French verbal and written skills and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment while meeting tight deadlines and working under pressure
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work with little supervision
  • Excellent computer skills including Windows and MS Office
  • Knowledge of the New Democratic Party, the labour movement, government departments, and community organizations
  • Knowledge of Hochelaga and riding priorities
  • Experience managing social media accounts (eg. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube), electronic mailings (MailChimp) and web marketing
  • Administrative office experience in a busy political office
  • Sound political judgment
  • Relevant post-secondary education or equivalent experience
  • Graphic layout skills; familiarity with InDesign and Photoshop (an asset)
  • Knowledge of database management (an asset)
  • Ability to produce videos (an asset)
  • Bilingualism (an asset)

Annual salary

$55,000

(salary levels subject to clauses 12 and 21 of the collective agreement)
