Description

The Fundraising Manager is responsible for advancing the Ontario NDP by generating revenue from donations. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the fundraising team to build organizational capacity, enabling the Ontario NDP to build financial capacity. The position reports to the Provincial Secretary.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities and accountabilities include but are not limited to the following:

General

  • Prepare annual and long-term fundraising plans and budgets; monitor progress and adjust accordingly
  • Collaborate with Board members in the identification, cultivation and solicitation of prospects
  • Work with the senior team to identify and develop benchmarks, industry standards, KPIs and best practices
  • Ensure quality data is input regularly and that lists and information on donors and prospects are kept up to date and relevant
  • Attend internal and external meetings, plus networking and community events
  • Keep abreast of fundraising industry developments and best practices
  • Identify prospects for solicitation
  • Research political, charitable and non-profit competitors for best practices and comparator intel
  • Other duties as assigned

Fundraising

  • Secure individual gifts aligned with the Ontario NDP’s long-term needs, including:
  • Participating in donor cultivation and solicitation meetings, both independently and with the Provincial Secretary
  • Identify opportunities through issue based fundraising campaigns
  • Developing monthly giving and planned giving campaigns
  • Effectively stewarding donors to create a strong engagement with the Ontario NDP
  • Cultivating and growing a major donors program
  • Annual solicitation and renewal campaigns (direct mail, email, phone, digital)
  • Manage the Ontario NDP’s union and corporate relationships, including:
  • Developing and maintaining active relationships with unions and corporate partners to create a strong engagement with the Ontario NDP
  • Attending business events for networking purposes

In-Kind Sponsorships & Contributions

  • Oversee the obtaining of in-kind support for various Ontario NDP initiatives as required
  • Build long-term relationships, with appropriate appreciation and recognition
  • Secure all required documentation

Events

  • Oversee any events related to the Development Department, including, but not limited to:
  • Donor Appreciation
  • Cultivation and recognition events
  • Donor and VIP receptions
  • Council and Convention delegate events

Qualifications

Required:

  • Five years’ experience in a dynamic, professional fundraising environment
  • Expertise in Excel
  • Highly proficient in database management
  • Strong multi-project management skills
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Sound judgement and creative problem solving skills
  • Valid license and willing to drive as required
  • Professional, positive, proactive team player driven by passion and high performance
  • Willingness to take on significant challenges by identifying creative and ambitious solutions

Preferred:

  • French language skills
  • Technical and creative graphic design skills
