Equity Organizer - Contract, Full-time

Under the supervision of the Director of Organization, the Equity Organizer will be responsible for working with NDP activists and Electoral District Associations to better engage racialized communities and ensure that NDP activities and outreach events are inclusive and diverse.

Responsibilities

• Assist New Democrat Electoral District Associations in pre-election organizing including the development of pre-election and election campaign plans that are inclusive
• Work with regional organizers to recruit equity seeking candidates and support the nomination process
• Plan, prepare and conduct workshops, seminars and other training sessions for Party members and activists
• Support the work of the NDP’s equity commissions
• Work with community groups to identify opportunities and assist with identifying key issues, executing outreach and tour strategies
• Create and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, organizations and activists within diverse communities
• Organize and support special events as required
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Campaign or election experience
• Ability to work with a team, be reliable, trustworthy and organized
• Experience working with broad networks, especially labour and social movements in diverse and ethnic communities
• The ability to motivate and work well with volunteers
• Be self-motivated and well organized
• Ability to work in a co-operative environment and strong interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of the policies, practices and structures of the New Democratic Party
• Excellent political judgment
• Good communication skills
• Ability to work irregular hours and travel
• Bilingualism is an asset, additional languages spoken other than French and English would also be considered a strong asset
