Description

Canada’s NDP is seeking an Analyst for its Digital team. The Digital Analyst’s primary role will be to develop and manage reporting, research, and targeting projects for the NDP’s Digital programs, and to serve as a liaison between the Digital and Data teams. These projects will involve a variety of analytic methodologies, including experimental design, statistical trend analysis, data mining, microtargeting and data integration to improve program efficiencies.

The Digital Analyst will also participate in the work of the Data team and take part in its other collaborative projects. Our team is made up of talented members with a diverse range of complementary skills, so we are especially interested in candidates who have particular expertise in one or more areas of our work and can expand the overall range of abilities of our team.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and managing a variety of projects in support of the NDP’s Digital team
  • Creating and implementing research plans for testing and improving Digital programs
  • Providing subject matter expertise for the development of reporting tools which provide rapid feedback on the impact of Digital campaigns
  • Crafting microtargeting programs to optimize Digital outreach strategies
  • Querying, manipulating, and pulling data for analysis from internal and external databases
  • Preparing presentations, written reports, and visualizations to explain our work to others
  • Working collaboratively on various other projects led by others on the Data team
  • Provide data and analytics support for web, fundraising and online advertising program
  • Other related duties.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years’ experience in positions requiring quantitative analysis of individual-level data in a political, nonprofit, academic, or business context
  • Experience analyzing email contact data, preferably through the Blue State Digital platform
  • A solid understanding of statistical principles and common modeling techniques
  • Proficiency with statistical analysis software (R, Stata, Pandas, or similar)
  • Familiarity with SQL-based data storage and management platforms
  • A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a quantitative field (social or physical sciences, mathematics, engineering, or similar), or equivalent experience
  • The ability and motivation to quickly learn additional skills as needed
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of the structure, history, policies and principles of the New Democratic Party of Canada.
  • Willingness to travel and work long hours and weekends as needed.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working with email fundraising, online advertising, or social media outreach campaigns for political or nonprofit organizations
  • Advanced programming ability in Python, Ruby, Java, or similar languages
  • Proficiency working with MySQL or Prostgres database technologies
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: object-oriented programming, cloud computing, machine learning, Bayesian statistics, and/or experimental research
  • Bilingual
