Responsibilities
- Schedule Member’s appointments and activities
- Liaise with Parliament Hill office to coordinate Member’s schedule
- Organize and promote events & activities for the Member as directed
- Assist in the collection of material, drafting and preparation of householders, direct mail, op-ed pieces, media material, news releases, speeches, articles and correspondence
- Assist with Member’s constituency-related correspondence
- Open, log, and distribute mail, faxes, emails and respond as is appropriate
- General administrative and reception duties
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Excellent computer skills, specifically good knowledge of Windows and MS Office
- Experience with desktop publishing software, graphic layout skills, particularly InDesign, an asset
- Relevant post-secondary education or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of the New Democratic Party, the labour movement, government departments, community organizations
- Knowledge of Elmwood — Transcona and riding priorities
- Experience working with social media (eg. Facebook, YouTube, Twitter)
- Sound political judgment
- Bilingualism, an asset
- Vehicle and license required
Annual salary
$54,500
(salary levels subject to clauses 12 and 21 of the collective agreement)
