Victory once seemed distant for New Democrats in Manitoba and Nova Scotia. But Premier Doer and Premier Dexter – and their skilled staff – knew what winning required: not just the right ideas, but dedication and focus.

It was by matching good policy with commitment and discipline that Premier Gary Doer went from the last place party to three majority governments in a row. Premier Darrell Dexter turned 15 seats into a strong majority in Nova Scotia the same way. And that’s how Jack Layton’s team can win government in Canada.

In the first Showcase of HFX09, Premier Gary Doer will talk about the road to victory in Manitoba. It’s a subject the Premier knows well: he fought for a decade to go from third place to majority government.
