On June 9, 2009 Nova Scotia families elected their first New Democrat government.

With deteriorating health care services, growing inequality and a Conservative government out of touch, voters overwhelmingly turned to Darrell Dexter and his NDP team to get Nova Scotia on the right track.

But the path to victory in Nova Scotia started long before the official campaign. In fact, the roots of this victory go back years. In this Showcase, we’ll hear from key voices who built the foundations for winning as well as new voices who represent the recent growth of our Party and movement.

We will hear from Alexa McDonough, who after a lifetime of leadership, first as leader of the Nova Scotia NDP (1980-1994) and then as federal leader (1995-2003), stepped down from politics and now serves as President of Mount St. Vincent University.

Nova Scotia Premier, Darrell Dexter, will deliver the evening’s keynote address.
