• Elected the Member of Parliament for Victoria in 2006
• A former Victoria City Councilor and adult educator with a Master of Education, Denise served on the Mayor’s Blue Ribbon Task Force on the Victoria Learning Centre/Library
• Worked with youth to develop Victoria’s newly appointed Youth Council
• Was instrumental in establishing a regional housing trust, developing the greenways and trails network and spearheading the clean-up of Victoria Harbour
• Founder of the Greater Victoria Cycling Coalition
• Actively supports a harm reduction approach to drug use
• Current member of the BC Parks Legacy Panel and former member of the Provincial Capital Commission Board
