David Suzuki is not impressed with Ottawa’s inaction on climate change. Read what he wrote last week:

Canada’s most prominent environmentalist calls the Liberal emissions reduction targets “weak” and urges Trudeau to “step up”.

After decades as an international laggard, Canadians want leadership and bold action to fight climate change—not more hot air from Ottawa.

Unfortunately, the new Liberal government has refused to take on the big polluters and set ambitious targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Here’s what world-renowned environmentalist David Suzuki wrote in a recent blog post:

“So, how much better is Canada's climate target than before the Liberals swept to power? Astonishingly, not one bit. Despite all the activity that has taken place, Canada is ignoring its greenhouse gas emissions reduction goal […]

Given the scale of the threat, how do we get our new prime minister to do the right thing? We have to demand it of him. We have to put the question of Canada's domestic target back on the table. We have to call out those who claim Harper's target is too tough to meet. Now is when we need to encourage, cheer and pressure our prime minister to step up — for my grandchildren, for his children and for all of us. I believe he can do it. But we have to speak up. If enough people raise their voices, government representatives have to listen.” Read the entire post here.

Take action

New Democrats agree with David Suzuki—Canada needs bold targets to reduce carbon pollution and a concrete plan to reach those targets. It’s up to all of us to speak out and make sure our government finally gets the job done.
