For the second time in a year, Stephen Harper has shut down Parliament because we were asking questions he didn't like.
New Democrats reject this repeated strike against democracy, and will bring proposals for legislation to limit the power of prorogation so the Prime Minister cannot abuse it.
We can't do that, however, until the doors of Parliament are re-opened, six weeks from now.
Between now and then, Harper needs to be held accountable for this decision.
For the lost hours we should have spent in the House of Commons, or in committee meetings. For the time we should be doing the work you elected us and pay us to do.
Because every day that our MP are locked out of Parliament, opportunities to govern are taken from us in quantifiable ways.
We're keeping track of this lost time, and we'd like you to help spread the word.
While we're locked out of Parliament, we'll be talking about these lost hours and missed opportunities. We hope you'll do the same.
